Ohio bourbon lovers are in for a treat as Watershed Distillery teams up with the Ohio Liquor Agency (OHLQ) to release a unique set of six barrel-strength single-barrel bourbons. Each bottle, named after a playing card, ranges from 124 to 135 proof and is available exclusively in select Ohio liquor stores starting August 2025, priced at $59.99 per bottle.
2025 Barrel Strength Series: A Playful Card-Themed Collection
This exclusive series features bourbons aged between four and seven years, each handpicked for its standout flavor profile. The lineup includes
- Ace of Spades (7-year, 134 proof): Rich notes of dark chocolate, caramel, cocoa, and dried fruit.
- King of Spades (7 years, 135 proof): A vibrant mix of floral, tropical fruit, and warm spice.
- Queen of Spades (7-year, 133 proof): Smooth caramel, vanilla, and cedar with hints of toasted marshmallow.
- Jack of Spades (7-year, 134 proof): Creamy vanilla, nougat, and candy-like sweetness.
- 10 of Spades (6 years, 131 proof): Warm caramel, pecan, and a touch of cinnamon.
- Joker (4-year, 124 proof): A festive blend of vanilla, cream, nutmeg, and clove, reminiscent of spiced eggnog.
“Every barrel tells its own story,” said Ryan Venrick, Watershed’s Cask Manager. “We’ve bottled these bourbons exactly as they spoke to us, preserving their unique character.”
Watershed and OHLQ: A Continued Ohio-Exclusive Collaboration
This release continues the partnership between Columbus-based Watershed Distillery and OHLQ, delivering unblended, unfiltered bourbons bottled straight from the barrel at cask strength. Each bottle reflects the distillery’s dedication to crafting Ohio-exclusive spirits at its Columbus facility.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Watershed Distillery again for this OHLQ-exclusive release,” said Jackie DeGenova, OHLQ Superintendent. “These single barrel bourbons offer Ohio collectors a chance to savor something truly special.”
Limited Availability and High Demand
The 2025 Barrel Strength Series is available only at select OHLQ locations across Ohio, with bottles expected to sell out quickly based on the rapid sellouts of past releases. Bourbon enthusiasts can check stock at OHLQ.com, but once these bottles are gone, they won’t be restocked. Priced at $59.99, these high-proof bourbons offer excellent value in Ohio’s premium bourbon market.
